Ampney Crucis Holy Rood is predominantly a Norman structure with the addition of a 15'th century tower. There are remnants of an earlier saxon structure in the fabric of the building.

There are references to a church on this site (Church of Omenie Holy Rood ) in the Doomsday book.

On the rhs side of this image there can be seen a rare 15'th century cross (the pillar like structure)
