Winterbourne Bassett - St Katherine and St Peter.
This church at Winterbourne Bassett was dedicated to St Katherine in the 16'th century but has had a long local history of being called St Peters. At the beginning of the 20'th century the situation was resolved by the expedient of dedicating it to St Katherine and St Peter.
The building is largely miid 14'th century of rough cut stone, contrasting with the late 15'th century tower of dressed stone. It is likely the church was built on the plan of an earlier structure and there are references back to the early 11'th century.
Like many churches this property was extensively restored in the mid 19'th century
